None of us are perfect, but all of us can try our best to be persons of great character. We can choose to be the best we can be, and at the core of that decision are our agreed-upon
Five Guiding Principles.
Community members are encouraged to start with these five and add to it as they grow in strength and character. And they are easy to memorize! Just think of "I ROCK"!
These Guiding Principles are especially valuable in times of stress or conflict. Just going through them and asking yourself if you are being true to them can really be uplifting!
The GoodPower Guiding Principles
INTEGRITY
We are honest with ourselves and others and consistent in aligning our attitudes and behaviors with our core values regardless of external pressures or temptations. In doing so, we prove that we are trustworthy and worthy of respect from others.
RESPECT
We respect everyone’s choices, knowing that they are the result of different experiences in life, and that sometimes, life is hard. When we disagree, we choose respect and understanding instead of condemnation. We value their opinions, boundaries, and rights.
OPTIMISM
As much as possible, we are optimistic at all times, sharing our cheerfulness, positive energy, and goodwill with everyone. We look for and find reasons to be optimistic and cheerful!
COURAGE
We are courageous, daring to speak up and do the right thing when it is difficult, even frightening, to do so. And we encourage other good people to step into their power and be courageous, too!
KINDNESS
We take action and give of our time and energy, extending a helping hand whenever possible, especially when it is hard to do, knowing that we all need a little help from time to time. We share kindness with an open heart and a big smile as much as possible, expecting nothing in return.
